One Cure for Man began in 2012. A year later, James released his debut album, Serenade the Damned, which featured the song ‘War Of Dreams’ and would later become BBC Radio Lancashire presenter Sean McGinty’s favourite song of 2014 with constant airplay. A series of shows were played throughout the midlands supporting The Raglans and Middleman before James moved back to his native Lancashire.

In October 2015, James released his second album, Gods and Toys. The album was a critical success and garnered even more BBC airplay. With tracks such as the deeply atmospheric ‘The Lost’ and the politically prophetic ‘Europe Is Close’, the album was described by When The Horn Blows as “lyrically masterful and an extremely good pop-rock record.”

2017 saw the release of James’ third album, Colours in the Fire. Louder Than War praised it as "Varying subject matter cleverly bound within honest indie/pop/rock that is often radio friendly and always well executed and produced", and Reyt Good Music Magazine said it was: "A thought provoking album...packed with soaring guitars and defiant poetry." During this time, James supported The Darkness and The Feeling and recorded a cover of the New Order classic 'Age Of Consent'. The song reached the ears of Peter Hook and Stephen Morris who were both pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful and powerful arrangement.

Fast forward to 2019, to One Cure For Man’s last album, ‘This Eternal Life.' Written after the tragic loss of his father, guitarist Allan Parkinson (Slack Alice), and the birth of his first son. The songs are touched and tainted with admiration and loss; life and death is ever present. The result is James’ most accomplished album to date and a real achievement for a musician and songwriter who is going from strength to strength.
He most recently contributed (under quarantine), an ambitious electronic/rock cover of the ABBA Classic ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’ for the Robot Goes Home label, featuring other artists such as Grace Petrie, Her Name Is Calla, and Katie Malco: https://robotneedshome.bandcamp.com/track/knowing-me-knowing-you
