19/06/2017 It has been three weeks since my dad passed away on May 28th at Bands On The Square, Barnoldswick whilst on stage with me. The amount of support and love the family have received has been amazing and truly overwhelming. I feel numb and yet I feel a great sense of pride to have shared the stage with him one last time. Knowing that he died doing what he loved and did best is a truly comforting thing.
My dad was a ferocious musician, one of the very best. It's often too easy to say this when someone has died but I've been telling people since I was a kid. I've played with hundreds of musicians and nobody made me feel more confident and comfortable on stage than my dad. Of course we had our disagreements, I don't think he particularly liked my dance music phase as a teenager and he didn't care much for music without guitars. It was a bugger to get him to rehearse at times because he relied so heavily on his natural talent and preferred to chat or get me to play chords while he soloed for ten minutes. These are moments I will now cherish.
I had the pleasure and privilege of recording his solo album along with my younger brother Ben. This was something I felt was very important and it has been well received, both locally and reaching people as far as Argentina and America where it scored 9 out of 10 in Blues Rock Review.
The impact he has had on me as a musician and my music is undeniable, he taught me so much and most of which was from watching him perform from a very young age. He was old school, intense, a showman on the guitar, unquestionably charismatic and yet still humble.
I will miss playing him my new songs and recordings, chatting about the injustices of the music industry. I will miss playing by his side but most of all I will miss him as a father and as a grandfather.
Rock in peace old fella

12/10/2016 It's one year today since the album 'Gods and Toys' was released. Described by critics as a "very good pop-rock record" and "a solid rock record that doesn't ever get boring" with "licks, riffs and solos that never fail to impress" and "an album for the romantics, the thinkers, the reflectors; people that want to hear songs that make them feel something." 27/09/2016 It's been an incredibly creative few months with the recent Gods and Toys video, work on the third album and now another video has arrived for 'The Freedom'. Edited by long-time collaborator Blake Goddard, the video uses lots of live clips, rehearsal footage (with brother Ben Parkinson on drums and Howard Page on bass) and photographs from old and new. This is James’s first Lyric video and showcases his unique, poetic language on the topic of communication and as a homage to George Orwell's work.
8/09/2016 James has been very busy making his third album over the last six weeks. Mixing will begin very soon by the very talented John Meredith of ARMYOUREARS. As if that wasn't enough, he has made a new music video with his wife, Hazel, shot around the landscapes of Rossendale, Lancashire. The video was edited by the super talented Blake Goddard of Deadtown productions. Enjoy and feel free to 'like' and share:

12/10/2015 Today James is very proud to release his second album 'Gods and Toys'. Work started back in May 2014 in Leicestershire and the album was finished after he moved back to his native Lancashire later that year. The album contains James's thought-provoking, poetic words, trademark screaming guitar and emotional-laden vocals as well as a guest vocal from previous singer Jeremy Tennant on the majestic 1000 Stars and all round meaty drums from James Brookes Buckley. Beautiful strings adorn the title track and the lamenting instrumental 'Hazel' courtesy of Ros Pilgrim making the album a varied and rich package. Enjoy
